The Voodoo Child`s “Vin” – A Sincere Story About Love and Longing

The band The Voodoo Child returns with a unique track, “Vin”, marking a new artistic chapter for the Iași-based group.

This time, the musical direction takes a more alternative approach, and for the first time, the lyrics are entirely in Romanian.

The Story Behind the Song

The song has an interesting backstory that began in February 2024, when the band decided to start writing new material.

Initially, their intention was to follow the path of their previous album, From The Dark, maintaining a familiar sound and English lyrics.

However, the personal lives of the band members had other plans.

“Something happened to us,” they say, suggesting that the inner transformations they experienced during that time decisively influenced the song’s evolution.

After nine months of being forgotten, December 2024 brought a fresh perspective.

The song was revisited with a new mindset, written from a more sincere and emotionally authentic place, closer to the band’s reality.

Thus, “Vin” came to life in just 15 minutes—lyrics, solo, and everything included.

What Was Different This Time?

“We wrote what we felt,” the band members confess, admitting that inspiration also came, to some extent, from a bottle of wine—which not only fueled the creative process but also gave the song its title.

“Vin” is, therefore, a mix of passion and restlessness, a song that captures the tension between loss and hope, between what you had and what you’re still searching for.

The lyrics are deeply personal, written during a “heavy” period for the band, marked by what they call “life’s struggles.”

Music became their refuge, and their inner battles can be felt in every verse.

The song’s ending is left open, with a “na na na” that invites each listener to interpret it in their own way—a subtle invitation to introspection.

What’s Next?

The new single also marks the first step toward a future album, most likely entirely in Romanian.

Even though the band has moved away from the heavier sound of From The Dark, they are not afraid to experiment.

“We’re still writing it, and so far, no two songs sound alike—so it’s going to be an album with a bit of everything for everyone. We just hope people will receive it well,” the band shares.

And the surprises for fans don’t stop there. The Voodoo Child is preparing a series of concerts to promote “Vin”—and maybe even one, two, or three more songs.

“But we’re not gonna tell you everything… just come to the shows and you’ll find out,” the band teases.

Tour dates will be announced on their Instagram account, where fans can stay updated with all the latest news.

As for the music video, it was, as always, a DIY project, entirely produced by the band.

From concept to final product, each member contributed with inspiration and creativity.

Some scenes, like those where Romina is running, were completely spontaneous, shaped by the moments that unfolded during filming.

The result? A raw, authentic video that the band is proud of.

“Vin” is the result of creative freedom and personal experiences—a song that resonates with listeners through sincerity, emotion, and a fresh sound.

Once again, The Voodoo Child proves that real music comes from the soul and that, regardless of style or language, what truly matters is the connection with the audience.
